Laguna - restaurant and conference facility

The scene of the restaurant and conference facility Laguna has been in operation for nearly hundred years. As early as 1927, Georg Kullberg and his family built the first building in this beautiful lake scenery.

International influences

At the beginning of the 1950s, the Kullberg family sold the real estate to the young Hougberg couple. By the end of the decade, influences from the world beyond reached the shores of the lake when the couple rented their villa to the United States embassy for a place to spend their summers and entertain guests. For the next 10 years, the place was fancily called American Club.

The restaurant is founded

At the end of the 1960s, the owner of the real estate, Mrs. Hougberg, founded a restaurant – Laguna – in the same place. The 1970s were the golden age of the restaurant: customers ate and drank, enjoyed the sun and beer on the deck, dancing to the wee hours of the night in the downstairs disco. It was around this time when the current owner of the restaurant, Kari Miettunen, began working in Laguna as a busboy.

When the real estate was put on the market in 2003, Kari Miettunen decided to buy it for himself. However, the building had deteriorated over the years, so extensive renovation and extension work was performed in Laguna before it was operational again.

A new beginning for Laguna

After almost four years of hard work, restaurant and conference facility Laguna experienced a re-birth. Today, Laguna is a restaurant system built with piety, seating almost 400 customers –as many as 700 customers in the summer.

The restaurant consists of six different sections: the restaurant, vault bar, restaurant on request, conference room, covered summer deck with 100 seats and the lakeside sauna with barbecue area. All facilities meet the needs of both corporate and private customers.
